DOUBLE 8 is a large-format, hardback book commissioned by the Hong Kong office of global architecture giant RMJM. I worked on the project alongside UK-Hong Kong branding and design agency Yang Rutherford.

Our brief was to celebrate creativity in China in 2008, the year of the Beijing Olympic Games.

DOUBLE 8 explores 88 contemporary Chinese innovations, initiatives and achievements in everything from conceptual art, fashion and food to literature, graphic design and photography. Movers and shakers featured in DOUBLE 8 include everyone from China’s first supermodel and a potential Pavarotti to Beijing’s independent rock bands. The book also highlights the country’s many adventures in modern architecture. ◉

“Double 8 is an excellent example of brand building in its most innovative and yet invisible form … Double 8 positions RMJM not only as global designers but also China experts. It has proven so popular — not only with clients but with everyone who sees it — that we also distribute it through Amazon, book stores and lifestyle shops such as Hong Kong’s GOD stores.”
